Periodontics

Periodontics is a dental specialty that focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease (gum disease), soft tissue deficiencies (gum recession) and in the placement and maintenance of dental implants. Periodontists receive extensive training in these areas, including three additional years of education beyond dental school.
